I paid for from one brother and as soon as I moved in I began to recieve demands that I get repairs done from the other brother who lived upstairs. I found it difficult to get builders to agree to do the work but when I finally got the required two quotes they demanded that I get the work done on the insurance. I asked for details in writing, (I had requested we communicate in writing as I was recieving up to 4 phone calls a day demanding that work be done.) I recieved no reply but a few week later I found out that the property had been sold to a niece who in turn began to send letters demanding that repairs be done.
I completed some repairs and she refused to pay until we had got quite a way along with court proceedings.
She demanded that I get the chimmney capped so I arranged this with the neighbour that we shared the chimmney with. I thought I would finally have some peace but within weeks of that work she sent a letter to say she had a leaking ceiling and demanded further repairs, I said she should check her pipes and guttering she refused. The builder who looked at the roof said it was due to a problem with next doors roof. I informed them of this but they have not rectified the situation.
She is now refusing to pay any money towards insurance until the fault is rectified. She frequently plays music unbearably loud and her beloved has hit and kicked my door and threatend to kill me , has shouted at my daughters and their friends. They have a squeakng floor house that they jump up and down on and refuse to repair.
I contacted the police who said I had grounds for a civilcase for harressment but that it was my fault they were behaving as they do as I should get the roof fixed.
I do not have the funds to persue a civil case for harresment.
I am finding this situation unbearable but can see no way out of this. My daughter has been diagnosed with kidney disease, her father had a stroke two years ago and his parents are also taking me to court ac as they want my daughter to visit her father every month even though they have moved him 200 miles away.
My mother died last year and throughout all of this I have recieved nasty letters demanding that repairs be done.
I would love to move but cant afford to. THe leaseholder is now demanding that I take legal action opposite the neighbour.Surely I am not responsible for this and she should sort out the problem with next doors roof as it is efefecting her property?
