Home buying tips please…?

I am a newbie at home buying and I would appreciate some advice. I don’t even know where to begin to search for houses for sale. Does one real estate company, such as re-max, list all of the properties for sale on the web, or can they only list the properties that they represent? I would want to know ALL of the houses listed for sale in my area, how would I go about that? Lastly, if there is something I should know before I start searching for a home, I would be grateful if you let me know.

I mean every step. like step 1 find a house you want. 2 talk to an representative and i want to know the closing costs and any other cost. im a real newbie when it comes to this.
