99% of the time those things on the curbs are broken or gross.

When I have things to pass on I make sure it’s something I would want myself. I do not give away clothes or items that are in disrepair.

When I give to others…..I give new….the people receiving deserve it.

I never toss out something that can be used by someone else. Push comes to shove I drop it off at the local Salvation Army post where they will make sure it gets to the right people.

Clothes, if they are in use able condition, are sent to appropriate Charity organizations or to local orphanages. The furniture/TV/ Music system etc. is mostly passed on to whoever needs it around me, let it be the household staff or the driver or the security staff of our building, whoever needs it gets it. As for computer is concerned, I remove the hard disk as it contains personal information and give it to anyone who wants it.

I usually try to donate my used stuff, if it is not in bad shape, but usually I wear my stuff till nobody else would want to wear it. I myself keep about 4 pair of pants, 2 shorts and shirts, one pair of shoes. So I am not as fortunate as other people and can appreciate what I do have.

You should negotiate with these ocmpanies to get them to report on your credit repor that they were paid in full, not charged-off. This typcially means that you didn’t pay them and they wrote them off. Another thing that can hurt your score is if you pay the agreed amount, but it is not the full amount owed. Be sure to get them to show it as paid to help your credit score the most.

The charge offs will be on your report for seven years after the date you paid them off completely. Short term – your score won’t improve. Long term – it will. Also – when you go for a loan in the future and people mention the charge offs – you can say that those were things of the past and that you have made some changes in your life. If the charge offs were paid off say 5 years ago – that is something you can say to help win someone over to your side.

With all the future charge offs – negotiate a pay off only if they clean your record! Get this in writing! Why do you want to pay them off and still have the marks on your credit for 7 years? Be smart! Tell them that if you have to file for bankruptcy they won’t get any money! That’ll get their attention! Only pay the charge offs when you have it in writing that your credit record will be cleared.

Anytime you pay something off it will help, because that will be one less thing the lender will need to ask you about the next time you apply for credit some where. The bad news is that in my past, delinquent medical bills never played a factor in my getting approved/ or not approved for credit. I bet the majority of the population has delinquent medical bills because our country is doofus and won’t go to a univeral health care system…but that is a whole different ball of wax. But to answer your question I would say you would gain a few points for paying them off..litterly just a few.
