Re: Before I sign up question
I would urge any potential BT Business Broadband customer to read the following concerning what I consider to be BT misleading pricing infomation.
We have been business customers of BT for a number of years and are now beginning to question whether we made the right choice 8 months ago to upgrade from an old lite package to the 10GB Option 1. Beware BT advertised prices may not be WYSIWYG. We negotiated a good deal with the BT sales person because we were planning to leave BT. We were offered a special deal of £10 per month and it included a business hub. The confirmation received turned out to be £12.50 per month and no business hub. It was only after one month of protracted exchanges with BT and a threat to complain to the Oftel Ombudsman that BT honoured the arrangement.
Unfortunately we have since found the speed is only 6MB instead of a forecast 14MB and our demands regularly exceed the 10GB limit. When we decided to upgrade to option 2 the price advertised changed from £20 per month to £25 per month. The first reason given by BT was geographical which turned out to be untrue – we have a residential line at the same location which would have enbled to secure the option 2 package at the advertsised amount. Another representative confirmed it was because we were upgrading. The latest is we have received a message stating that we can get faster broadband free. However, we don’t know how this can be achieved because the BT links provided in the message take us straight to the higher tariifs.
You will probably be better off with O2 or Virgin. However, if you decide to go with BT I suggest you consider a cheaper residential option. Sadly, the business package is not worth the extra amount either in speed or service.
